The Ohio State football program keeps pushing out elite NFL prospects every year. Not only do these players excel right away in the NFL, but they get rewarded by signing huge extensions. That has happened time and time again for former Buckeyes in the league.
That’s exactly what happened to Terry McLaurin earlier this offseason. The former third-round pick signed a three-year $71 million contract extension to stay with the Washington Commanders. He gets to stay with the team that drafted and took a chance on him.
McLaurin has put up gaudy numbers despite not having very good quarterbacks throwing him the ball. He is one of the best young receivers in the entire league right now. He deserved that extension, and he’s worked very hard to get that money.
McLaurin got emotional yesterday when speaking about all of the work it took to get to the point where he is now.
You can see just how much all of this means to McLaurin. He was a very underrated Buckeye while he was with them and now he’s one of the best receivers in the NFL. I liked him coming out of Cathedral High School ever since I was able to catch a few of his games.
Now, he is thriving at the next level like a lot of other former Ohio State football players are. This won’t be the last big extension he signs either. As long as he’s healthy, he should sign at least one more big contract once this one is over.
I love watching him play on Sundays.
