Less than a week after getting cornerback Calvin Simpson-Hunt to flip his commitment from Texas Tech, the Ohio State football team has a chance to change the mind of another player they are pursuing. According to an Eleven Warriors report, four-star quarterback Austin Novosad will make his decision sometime this week.

The Dripping Springs, Texas native has been committed to Baylor since mid-December of last year. Ryan Day offered him a scholarship after Novosad was at an Ohio State football camp in early June. He took an official visit to the school not long after and loved what he saw. The report states Novosad planned to make a decision at the end of June but got an offer from Texas A&M after visiting the last weekend of the month. The Aggies have always been his dream school.

The 6’3”, 185-pound Novosad is the thirteenth-rated quarterback nationally in the 2023 recruiting cycle. He threw for nearly 3,400 yards last year and has close to 6,300 in just two years as a starter. He would fill a need in this Ohio State recruiting class because they do not yet have a quarterback committed.

Many think OSU has as good a chance as anyone to land him, but Bucknuts reached out to one of their recruiting sources for their opinion,

"“If I had to predict, I would go with a flip to A&M. But it isn’t over and I don’t rule out him staying with Baylor or flipping to Ohio State. Austin is from a big A&M family. But they offered him late. They offered a couple other guys before him and he knows that. The family has been talking things over. I would say I give the edge to Texas A&M, but I don’t rule out you guys up there or him just staying with Baylor.”"

Will it make a difference that he was not at the top of his dream school’s list? Possibly, but I don’t think that is going to be a big factor in his decision. The fact there aren’t any expert predictions will tell you how up in the air all of this remains. Don’t be surprised if Novosad pushes back his announcement.
