The Ohio State football program has been killing it on the recruiting trail so far this week. In fact, they have grabbed two five-star receivers and another four-star one in just the last three days. Brian Hartline has done an amazing job in recruiting, as he always does.

After getting commitments from those three prospects, the Buckeyes have skyrocketed up the recruiting rankings. They now sit at number two in the country, just a few points behind Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish also have two more commitments at this point than Ohio State does.

The Buckeyes’ class will likely just get better as the rest of the summer goes along. They are still in the running for five-star prospects at other positions, as well as plenty of four-star recruits too. It’s not a stretch to say that Ohio State could land the top class for the first time in school history.

I’ll be interested to see how they fill out the rest of this class moving forward. They are trying to get some defensive backs, as well as some other defenders. That’s the thing that the Buckeyes need the most right now. They have to improve defensively faster than they need to offensively.

Ohio State has the resources to recruit this well every single year. The Buckeyes are certainly spending enough in NIL to make themselves an attractive option for prospective recruits to choose. They also have a track record of developing first-round picks.

The Buckeyes will only get more top recruits if they continue to have success on the field. A deep run this year would certainly help that. As far as the 2023 class is concerned, they now have a real chance to be the best recruiting class in Ohio State football history.
