The Ohio State football team plays perhaps the biggest game of the opening weekend in college football this season when Notre Dame comes to town on September 3rd. It will be under the lights and in primetime where everyone will be able to watch.

If that wasn’t already big enough, the Fighting Irish have two former Buckeyes on their coaching staff. They will be back in the Shoe for the first time as coaches. Marcus Freeman, who is now Notre Dame’s head coach, has certainly been catching Ohio State’s eye with some statements he’s made.

First, he talked about how attending Ohio State when he was a player was a mistake. Then today, he made remarks about how Ohio State football players don’t attend class. Freeman seems to just be adding fuel to the fire before that opening game rolls around.

Freeman will not have the more talented team when he comes into Columbus. The Buckeyes have the better offense by far and have a defense that should be improved. You would think Freeman would try to keep his mouth shut and not make Ohio State the more motivated team as well.

Instead, he has decided to go this route. Now Ohio State will be the more talented AND motivated team. That’s a dangerous combination for a first-year head coach to face in his first road game. He might be writing checks with his mouth that his team can’t cash.

I don’t mind the trash talk. It makes things way more interesting once the start of the season rolls around. It also gets the fanbase talking and more excited about the game as well. We still have two and a half months before the game is played, so this is some nice foreplay.

Next. Can TreVeyon Henderson break through?. dark

I can’t imagine that Ryan Day would respond to this in any significant manner either.
