Ohio State Football: No one plays mistake-free

Whenever you hear about a football game, you always hear how each team needs to be mistake-free. The team that does that will win the game. Well, the Ohio State football team makes plenty of mistakes, even when they win games in blowout fashion.

That’s because no one plays totally mistake-free. There are mistakes on running plays, passing plays, defense, and special teams. Some mistakes are just bigger than others. Some are big, like turnovers or blowing a coverage for a touchdown. Others are smaller that you don’t see.

The key to winning games for the Ohio State football team is to minimize mistakes. They can’t let them compound on top of each other to make matters worse. Committing turnovers is bad, sure. But do you know what’s worse? Letting a team score a touchdown off that turnover.

Ohio State didn’t do a good job of minimizing mistakes in the two losses against Oregon and TTUN. In fact, they compounded them. Ryan Day will undoubtedly work all offseason to make sure that those mistakes don’t get compounded in any games this season.

We’ll see if that’s something the Buckeyes are able to accomplish every single game. It’s a challenge that every team faces. Ohio State’s schedule has set them up for a good run this year, so fixing mistakes could be the difference between a national title and missing out on the CFP entirely.

I can’t wait to see what the coaching staff does to help make sure mistakes aren’t magnified. Fewer mistakes is always the goal, but no team plays mistake-free football.
