Ohio State basketball won’t have a TBT team this year
By Ryan Stano
For the last few years, former Ohio State basketball players have played in the TBT. They’ve had different names but most recently went under Carmen’s Crew. Carmens Crew even won the TBT back in 2019 with a cast of former Buckeye greats.
This year, there will be no such run for the cash. Carmens Crew will not be participating this summer in The Basketball Tournament. Previous rosters had included Aaron Craft, Jared Sullinger, Jon Diebler, William Buford, Dallas Lauderdale, and other Buckeye greats.
With no team in the TBT this year, Ohio State basketball fans will have to wait to get their fill of Buckeyes until the college basketball season starts. I’ve always enjoyed watching the former Buckeyes play basketball together again. They still all had good chemistry with each other.
It’s unclear what the future of the team will be from here on out. These guys keep getting older and lives change as time goes on. We’ll see if more former Buckeyes decide to play in this from now on, or if the old Crew is able to come back for a few more runs.
It’s a bummer that they won’t be playing again in 2022. I do hope that we get to see some of these past Buckeyes again. It’s a fun thing to watch in the summer when there’s not much in the way of sports on. That’s the main thing I’ll miss; it was just fun.
I guess we’ll have to wait until next summer to see if they want to come back and play.
