The Ohio State football program has been around for a very long time. So has Ohio Stadium. In fact, it was built all the way back in 1922. Of course, there have been many renovations to the stadium since then, but the bones are the same as they were back in 1922.

1922 was 100 years ago this season. It will be the centennial celebration of the Shoe. There will certainly be a great celebration for this anniversary. It’s incredible that the building that was built so long ago still houses as many fans as it does and has provided happiness for so many people.

I’m sure the Ohio State football program will do something appropriate to honor the Shoe for every game, probably wearing some sort of patch on the jersey or decal on the helmet. It only makes sense to memorialize this occasion in some way. That’s not the only celebration that should happen this year though.

This season also marks the 20th anniversary of the 2022 national championship team. That team, coached by Jim Tressel, defeated perhaps the most talented college football team of all time when they beat the defending national champion Miami Hurricanes in the Fiesta Bowl.

That team was able to fight, scratch, and claw their way to several close victories to earn their spot in the National Championship Game. Then, they had to beat the Hurricanes in double overtime in order to bring home the title. They were able to do so.

dark. Next. Can OSU win a big non-conference home game?

I would assume that there is some sort of celebration with former players and maybe even Tressel at some point this season. It would make the most sense to do something during Homecoming against Rutgers on October 1, although that is the date they will celebrate Ohio Stadium’s centennial.
