The Ohio State football team will have one of the most explosive offenses in the country this year. Because of that, Ryan Day is going to think that he can score a touchdown in every single possession. While that will be true the majority of the time, he still has to control his aggressiveness.

There were times last season where the Buckeyes went for it on fourth down when they would have been better off kicking field goals instead. The Oregon game comes to mind immediately when thinking about this. Ohio State only went 1/4 on fourth down in the game.

That’s not going to get it done. If the Buckeyes would have kicked field goals instead on some of of those fourth downs instead of going for it, they could have won that game. Granted, those fourth downs weren’t very far and because they didn’t convert them the Buckeyes have a new offensive line coach. But even so, three points are better than none.

Day is a smart coach. I’d much rather have someone who is aggressive and always trusts his offense than the alternative. Even so, I’m sure Day has learned from his mistakes and will control his aggressiveness when he really needs to. That will help win some games for the Buckeyes.

The Ohio State football team will win games because of decisions made in difficult spots. Day is one of the best coaches in the entire country and I trust him to have learned from what happened.
