If you close your eyes and think, when was the last time the Ohio State football team had an iconic moment on the field? Everyone is going to have a different answer. Some might say the end of the National Championship Game in 2014. Some might Say Parris Campbell running away from TTUN defenders for a touchdown.

The last moment I think of is when Ezekiel Elliott ran 85 yards through the heart of the South against Alabama back in 2014. Since then, the Buckeyes haven’t had a truly iconic moment in my mind. The Buckeyes will be looking to add to that this season.

Most iconic moments happen during memorable seasons. That typically happens with a big win over your rival or a national championship win. Ohio State lost the national title in 2020 and hasn’t had a great, memorable win over a rial since 2018 against TTUN.

This is the year that could change. With everything that the Ohio State football team brings back offensively, they have a real shot to win it all. Not just that, but they have a real shot to win every single game en route to a national title victory. That’s how good this team could be.

Ohio State has a chance to make a new iconic moment every year because of how elite they are as a program. This is the year that they could potentially add another one. It could be against Notre Dame in the opener, or it could be against an opponent in the CFP. It just depends on how the season unfolds.

Ryan Day says they'll be ready for opener. dark. Next

We’ll see how things go. I can’t wait until we get the month of September when we can actually see some results on the field.
