The Ohio State football team aren’t strangers to playing under the bright lights. They typically play two or three night games a season. Ohio State usually hosts one of those games and they typically go to other stadiums that host too.

This year, the Buckeyes already have two night games that are already on the schedule. The Buckeyes are playing Notre Dame in the opener at the Shoe. That game is set for 7:30 pm and will be one of the marquee games of the entire year. It makes sense to be a night game.

The other night game that’s on the docket right now is a very weird one though. That’s the game against Toledo in Week 3 of the season. That game is going to be a 7 pm kickoff at the Shoe and will be broadcast on Fox.

Don’t get me wrong, I like night games. I think they give a great atmosphere to the game and makes things feel more lively throughout the stadium. But to have a MAC opponent as a night opponent. Toledo is an in-state opponent that has no chance of winning this game. It’s odd that Fox decided to make this a night game.

That doesn’t mean it won’t be a fun game to go to and experience. Both teams will still be amped up to play it. It’s a night game in the Shoe. That’s still pretty special, no matter who the opponent is or what time of year it is. It will be a great experience for Toledo as well.
