The Ohio State football team had the best recruit they’ve ever had in program history as a freshman. That recruit was of course quarterback Quinn Ewers. He chose to come to Columbus over going to Texas. That didn’t last very long.

As we all know, Ewers left Ohio State after last season to go to Texas. He pretty much came to Ohio State to collect one year of NIL money before going back home. He never really had any intentions of staying and fighting for the starting job here.

Now he’s fighting for the starting job at Texas. He’s the highest rated recruit Texas has right now too. I say recruit because he’s essentially a true freshman since he didn’t see any action with the Buckeyes. He has a real shot to win that starting job though.

If Ewers does win the starting job, he’s going to have a tough start to his quarterback career because he faces Alabama in the second game of the season. Playing against a program that has played in the last two national championships isn’t exactly easing yourself into things.

I’m sure Ohio State football fans will be keeping tabs on his career as it progresses. There’s a slight chance he could face the Buckeyes if he decides to stay four years at Texas. Ohio State plays Texas in 2025 which would be Ewers’ senior year if he doesn’t decide to leave early.

I highly doubt that Ewers stays in college that long though. I would expect him to leave either next year or in 2023 for the NFL. If he’s as good as he’s supposed to be, he should. It will be interesting to see how his career progresses at Texas.
