Ohio State Football can grab hold of The Game once again

In order for two teams to have a rivalry, both teams need to win games in the matchup. For the last ten years, The Game wasn’t much of a contest. The Ohio State football team dominated the rivalry and had only lost to TTUN twice in the previous 20 matchups prior to last season.

Then TTUN finally won a game. Now, we have ourselves a rivalry again. Now the Buckeyes are focused on getting that dominance back. There is more juice in the rivalry now that TTUN fans think they have a real chance to compete with the Buckeyes again.

Whether or not that’s true remains to be seen. Ohio State had its worst season since 2017 and they still won more games than TTUN had in any season since 2011, excluding their record last year. Ohio State still clearly has been the better program for the last few years.

If the Ohio State football team can win this year, they have a chance to assume control of the rivalry again. They get the game at home and should have a much better defense. Both programs know that the Buckeyes will have the better offense in that game as well.

TTUN is certainly going to be motivated to not let that happen. They got a taste of what it feels like to win this rivalry game for the first time and they don’t want to let that go. Ohio State’s freshman class doesn’t know what it feels like to win The Game for the first time since 2011.

I think Ohio State will win the game right now, but that’s also 3+ months before either team has played a single game. We’ll have to wait and see how each team looks when they get out on the field.
