Ohio State Football: The three best moments of the 2021 season
By Ryan Stano
Following Wilson’s big day against Purdue, the Ohio State football team welcomed in seventh-ranked Michigan State. Michigan State had lost their only game of the season up to that point just two weeks prior to the same Purdue team that Ohio State took to the woodshed.
Yet, I’m not sure anyone expected the type of beatdown that was laid at the Shoe that day. Ohio State absolutely smoked the Spartans from the jump. They had a 49-0 lead at halftime and probably could have made it worse if they really wanted to.
The Buckeyes then took their foot off the gas in the second half and only scored 7 more points. They ended up beating Michigan State 56-7 in their most impressive game as a team all year long. The defense was what was impressive the most though, holding Kenneth Walker III to just 25 yards on 6 carries.
C.J. Stroud threw for 6 touchdowns in this game too. The offense accumulated a massive 655 yards of total offense in the game. And let me tell you, this could have been way worse if Ryan Day wanted to make it worse. He could have run up the score even more.
It seemed like Ohio State was destined to go into Ann Arbor and pummel TTUN yet again. As we know though, that wasn’t the case. That disappointing loss didn’t stop the Buckeyes from having one last great moment in the 2021 season, even if this last moment technically happened in 2022.
