Ohio State Football: Can two NFL Buckeyes make a Super Bowl run?
By Ryan Stano
Two former Ohio State football players are starting receivers for the New Orleans Saints now. Michael Thomas, who was the best receiver in football just a couple of years ago, is the veteran. Chris Olave, who the Saints traded up in the first round to take, is the rookie.
Together they make up a really good receiving duo for the Saints. The addition of Olave makes them much more dangerous on the offensive end. Thomas should be back and fully healed from ankle problems that have plagued him in the last couple of seasons.
If Thomas can get back to the level he was at a few years ago, the Saints are going to be formidable in a suddenly weak NFC. That entire conference is for the taking. Olave gives the Saints the deep threat that they have been missing for a while.
Both of these guys had excellent Ohio State football careers. Thomas has already had a good start to his NFL career. Assuming that Jameis Winston can stay healthy and not turn the ball over as much as he normally does, New Orleans could be a real factor to make the Super Bowl.
This might be a little early for this Buckeye duo to make a run though. The two Buckeyes still need someone to get them the ball. They can’t do everything themselves. It will be interesting to see how Olave adjusts to the speed of the NFL game. I suspect he won’t have too many issues with it.
