We know that the Ohio State football team is going to have an incredible offense this year. C.J. Stroud will be one of the Heisman favorites and Jaxson Smith-Njigba very well might be the best wide receiver in the country. Apparently though, some people are forgetting about the running game.

TreVeyon Henderson had himself a pretty darn good season too as a true freshman. He rushed for 1,248 yards and 15 touchdowns last season and caught 27 passes for 312 yards and 4 more touchdowns. He was the real deal out of the backfield and he didn’t even start the season as the starter.

Despite the fact that Henderson had a stellar freshman season, he is still getting disrespected here in the offseason. Some national media still doesn’t think he’s the best running back in the Big Ten even though the numbers indicate something else.

Let’s dissect how many different ways this is wrong. First off, Corum had 300 yards less rushing than Henderson did. He also had seven touchdowns less than Henderson did on the ground and through the air. So overall, a much less efficient season than Henderson had.

Also, Henderson was a true freshman. Corum was a sophomore. Henderson did better at a younger age. Quite frankly, if the Ohio State football team had an offensive line that could’ve run blocked last season, Henderson could have had way more yards.

I’m sure that Henderson will file this away and use it as motivation to play even better this year. He is a true dual-threat out of the backfield and the Buckeyes will do whatever they can to get him the ball in open space where he can really be dangerous.
