The Ohio State basketball team needed Kyle Young these past few years. He was actually the most valuable player that the Buckeyes had over the last couple of years. Young was the toughest player that the Buckeyes had and gave them some valuable scoring too.

Unfortunately, Young had some injury issues throughout his career. The main issue he had was that he had some concussion problems. Those problems forced him to miss the Big Ten Championship Game and the first round of the NCAA Tournament in 2021.

Those same concussion issues forced him to miss the Big Ten Tournament in 2022. That issue is what ultimately kept him from being able to pursue a professional career. He decided to retire from the game of basketball instead of playing overseas.

I feel bad for Young. He may have had a chance to make a career overseas playing basketball. I’m not sure how successful he would have been, but he would have at least been making money instead of not doing that.

Instead, Young’s concussion issues forced him to retire. It’s a bummer. The Ohio State basketball team missed him every time he missed a game due to injury. It was part of the reason why Ohio State lost to a 15-seed in 2021. It wasn’t the prime reason, but he would have helped the cause for sure.

Ohio State will miss Young next year. I wish he got a chance to end his career on his terms though. He should have been able to choose where he played and when he was going to stop
