The Ohio State football team has been hosting a lot of visits on campus recently. They have even more scheduled for the summer, which is when most of the recruiting cycle really starts to heat up for the 2023 class. It’s starting to heat up for them right now too.

That’s because the Buckeyes landed another commitment today, this time from an in-state product. Austin Siereveld, a tackle from Middletown, has committed to the Buckeyes. He is a four-star prospect that made his decision around 3:15 pm today.

Siereveld chose the Ohio State football program over Notre Dame and Alabama, which are two big schools to get a recruiting victory over. He stands at 6’5 and 315 pounds and will likely play guard in college. He is a kid that has a lot of tools already developed and has good size.

Siereveld is a really good run blocker on tape. In pass blocking, he’s good but not great. That’s something he needs to work on, specifically getting a bit stronger. That’s certainly something that Coach Mick can help with once he gets to Columbus before his freshman year.

This now gives the Buckeyes 10 commitments for the 2023 class. They currently have the 5th-ranked recruiting class in the country after adding Siereveld to the fold. They still have some five-star prospects who could be committing to the Buckeyes any minute now too.

While Siereveld isn’t the sexiest recruit, he represents something important for the Buckeyes. They are trying to build a wall around the state of Ohio in recruiting. Keeping offensive line prospects like him in the state is a good start on rebuilding the offensive line pipeline.

Justin Frye will be judged on how he develops these recruits now that he has a couple of them. It’s one of the things I’m most interested in watching these next few years.
