The Ohio State basketball team now has a full roster. They have been busy utilizing the transfer portal this summer after a number of players left for either the NBA Draft or the portal. Now, they have all of their roster spots filled after using the portal to grab another guard.

That guard is Isaac Likekele from Oklahoma State. He’s another big guard, standing at 6’5 and 215 pounds. He’s a big guard who can get inside and use his body to get buckets. He started all four years he was with the Cowboys and averaged 7.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.4 assists last year.

Likekele gives the Buckeyes a little bit of playmaking, rebounding, defense, and leadership. Him being a four-year starter gives them a guy who has played in big games and knows how to handle it. He could help teach the young guys coming in how to deal with that.

The issue with Likekele is his shooting. It’s just plain bad. He shot just 43.7% from the field last year and an abysmal 18% from three. He doesn’t take many threes either, just .4 a year ago. Likekele is not someone that is going to help spread the floor and create space. That was one of the issues with this Ohio State basketball team a year ago.

I know Likekele has spent his career starting, but I can’t really see him doing that next year. I think Bruce Thornton and Tanner Holden have to be the starting guards. Likekele is a guy that can come off the bench and create for others and help the team in that regard.
