The Ohio State football team was looking forward to having multiple players drafted on the final day of the 2022 NFL Draft. They did, even if some players fell a little further than they wanted to. Thayer Munford is one of those players who fell a little bit.

It doesn’t matter though because he was officially drafted with the 238th pick by the Las Vegas Raiders. Munford goes in the 7th round to a team that is trying to get over the hump. Vegas has done a good job making the team a lot better this offseason.

As far as fit goes, Munford goes to an offensive line that is solid, but not great. The former Ohio State football product has a chance to make an impact if he can show the team versatility. He has to show that he can play most of the positions on the offensive line.

Munford played both tackle and guard at Ohio State so Vegas knows he can do that. Munford will start out as a backup. He will have his work cut out for him in terms of getting himself towards the top of the depth chart. He has some work to do in that regard.

While Munford struggled a little bit with run blocking last year at guard, I think he has a chance to carve out a decent NFL career. I don’t see him starting right away or really in the next couple of years. I think he’s a player that can spot-start as needed.

It’s good to see Munford get drafted. I was afraid that for some reason he was going to go undrafted. Now, his NFL dreams have come true and he gets to play professional football for a living.
