The Ohio State football program didn’t have very many people taken on day three of the 2022 NFL Draft. In fact, they only had two. Tyreke Smith and Thayer Munford were the only two Buckeyes taken. Smith was taken in the 5th round and Munford was taken in the 7th round.

That means that Haskell Garrett and Demario McCall both went undrafted. McCall going undrafted is not a surprise and was expected. He hardly played the last three years and never was able to make a true impact at any of the positions he tried to play.

Garrett going undrafted is a huge shocker to me. Two years ago, he made every big play on the defense it seemed. He was always around the ball and making plays. He still did that this past year too, scoring a touchdown in the opening game against Minnesota.

I thought Garrett was going to go in the 5th round at the latest. He played hurt this past season and didn’t quite have the impact he did as a junior, but was still pretty good. I was very surprised no team took a flyer on him late in the 7th round as time was ticking down.

Garrett should be one of the first people who signs an undrafted free-agent deal though. I bet his phone was ringing off the hook as soon the draft ended. Whoever does end up grabbing Garrett gets a player who is willing to do whatever it takes to play his best.

Garrett got shot in the face and still came back to play football and not miss any games. If anyone has any doubts about his will to succeed and be the best he possibly can, look no further than that. I’d be very surprised if Garrett didn’t find himself on a roster before the season starts.
