It was a big night for the Ohio State football program on Thursday night during the first round of the NFL Draft. They knew that they were going to have two receivers go in the first round. What they didn’t know is that three former teammates would go back-to-back-to-back.

Garrett Wilson was the first of the Buckeye receivers to be taken. He was taken 10th overall by the New York Jets. He was the second receiver taken in this draft, only behind Drake London from USC. In my opinion, the Jets got the best receiver in the draft by taking Wilson.

Right after that pick, the New Orleans Saints traded up from 17 to 11. The Saints decided to take Chris Olave with that pick to pair him with another former Buckeye in Michael Thomas. It was the first time in the common draft era that two receiver teammates had been drafted back-to-back.

But wait, there’s more! Not only did Wilson go back-to-back at 10 and 11, but their former teammate was drafted at 12 too. The Lions traded up to take Jameson Williams, who was with the Buckeyes until last season when he transferred to Alabama.

That means that Brian Hartline recruited three of the first four receivers taken in the 2022 NFL Draft, and all were top-12 picks. That’s something that has never been before. Not only that, but the Ohio State football team will have another first-round receiver in Jaxon Smith-Njigba once he comes out next year.

The amount of receiver talent that Hartline has been able to amass is ridiculous. Last night’s results will only help that too. Recruits will take one look at the draft board and realize that if they want to be a high draft pick, they should go to Ohio State.

Tonight should be another good night for the Buckeyes as many more players should be drafted tonight. Wilson, Olave, and Williams are all great receivers and should have excellent careers at the next level.

I know that because Hartline knows how to develop these kids to greatness.
