It’s a big night for the Ohio State football program. The Buckeyes knew that they were going to have two receivers taken in the first round tonight, but they didn’t know when. In fact, they ended up going back to back. Garrett Wilson went to the Jets 10th overall, and Chris Olave went to the New Orleans Saints at 11.

Chris Olave joins another former Buckeye in Michael Thomas as a receiver for the Saints. Thomas was one of the best receivers in all of football when he was healthy. Now, New Orleans adds a speedster in Olave on the other side of him who can run all of the routes.

While Olave doesn’t have the hands or body control that Thomas does, Olave can run all of the routes and is an exceptional deep-ball catcher. Olave can really take the top off a defense. This is an excellent spot for him to go, even if the Saints quarterback situation isn’t great right now.

One thing Jameis Winston can do is rack up a lot of passing yards. I’d be shocked if Olave didn’t have 1,000 yards receiving as a rookie. That’s how good he is and how good I think the Saints’ offense can be with him and Thomas lined up on the field at the same time.

This is the first time that two Ohio State receivers have gotten drafted in the first round since 2007. Olave and Wilson will be two rookies that we will be keeping our eye on this season. Both should have spectacular rookie years despite some questionable quarterbacks throwing to them.

This is going to be fun to watch Olave play for the Saints for the next several years. He’s going to be a really good pro.
