The Ohio State football team has had a decent amount of players enter the transfer portal over the past few years. It’s not specific to them though. Programs all over are seeing kids enter the portal and leave. They’re all looking for a better chance to play.

That’s the case again today. The Buckeyes are losing another player to the portal. Defensive end Noah Potter has decided to leave after not getting enough playing time in his first few years with the Ohio State football program. He missed all of last season after eye surgery.

As far as losses go, this is about as soft as it gets. Potter is a redshirt sophomore and has only played in two games in his career. He’s only recorded a total of three tackles. He just never got the opportunity to see the field and make an impact.

Ohio State has a plethora of other defensive ends, so the depth at that position is not an issue. It’s better for both the Buckeyes and Potter that he leaves. That way, Potter can get a fair shot to play and try to make his way to the NFL.

Potter will have a few months to find somewhere to go before the season starts. My guess is that he goes to a non-power five school to make sure he can compete for a starting job.

Next. Don’t expect much tight end use this year. dark

We wish Potter nothing but the best moving forward. I hope he can find a team that he can play well for and get some NFL teams to notice him.
