Ohio State Football: Evan Pryor big Spring Game winner
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team played its Spring Game yesterday. It was great to see the Buckeyes back out there in front of the fans. While the defense was the talk of the game, and the thing to be most excited about, Evan Pryor was also a big winner yesterday.
Pryor is a sophomore this year and is trying to earn more time on the field in 2022. He was third on the depth chart last year behind TreVeyon Henderson and Miyan Williams. He will likely be third again this year but may get out there for more snaps after a strong Spring.
Pryor had a really nice run for a touchdown yesterday and caught a couple of passes as well. The Buckeyes didn’t use their running backs a ton in the passing game a season ago. Pryor might be able to change that this year based on his abilities.
Henderson and Williams are still too good to be passed up on the depth chart, but Williams might see fewer snaps because of the fact that he won’t be starting like he did early last year. Williams might see fewer snaps because of how much Pryor has improved in the offseason.
If Pryor follows up a strong Spring Game with a strong summer, he could be in line to see a lot more time on the field this Fall. He might even be able to be out there with the starters at some points too. He might be a good third-down back to use in passing situations.
Pryor may have been the biggest winner on the offense of players who has a chance to see snaps during significant moments of the season. It’s unfortunate for him that he came in the same recruiting class as Henderson because he likely won’t get a chance to start until his senior year.
