Ohio State Football ranked highly in ESPN’s preseason FPI
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team is trying to bounce back after a terrible 2021 season that saw them lose two games in the regular season, including the first loss to TTUN in almost two decades. The 2022 season is hope that this team can put it all together to make a title run.
We know that the Buckeyes will be a top-five team when the preseason polls come out in August. Their offense is too good for them to not be, no matter what the defense looks like. The defense can’t be any worse than it was last year. It seems ESPN’s FPI feels the same way.
ESPN’s FPI has the Ohio State football team ranked 2nd in their preseason poll. I’m sure you already know who they have ranked first before I even tell you…have you guessed yet? Yep! It’s of course Alabama. Even though they lost in the National Championship, they still get the top spot.
It’s hard to argue with that given their sustained track record of success. Ohio State being ranked second shows how much faith they have in this defense being even marginally better than it was last season. That, and the fact that the offense is so good.
Two teams that the Buckeyes will face in the regular season are also in the top ten. Those teams are Notre Dame, which is ranked fifth, and TTUN, which is ranked 7th. Ohio State welcomes Notre Dame to the Shoe in the first game of the season on September 3rd.
Ohio State’s end goal this season isn’t to be ranked second. It’s to be ranked first. They have the talent to do it, they just have to put it all together. If you want to check out the rest of the top ten, click on the link above.
