The Ohio State football team will be playing their Spring Game next weekend. It will give us as fans the first look at the new players that have come in. It will also give us our first look at the first-team defense, which has a lot of new faces on it this season.

The linebacker room is where the most questions lie. Steele Chambers seems pretty locked into one of the starting spots at linebacker. After that is unclear. It seems that Tommy Eichenberg has been playing well enough in Spring practice to earn another starting spot, but that isn’t locked in.

We’ll see who gets the first snaps at the linebacker positions on Saturday afternoon. There’s a chance that those spots end up changing by the time Fall rolls around. Regardless, it will be interesting to see who the coaches think has the upper hand at this time.

I’m also interested to see what the defensive line rotation looks like. We know who is likely going to be in the rotation, I just want to know how many snaps each guy plays. Jack Sawyer was the star of the Spring game last year, so maybe the star of the game this year is on the d-line again.

Even though the personnel can change from now until September 3rd when the Buckeyes take on Notre Dame in the first game of the season, the Spring game will give us an idea of who the coaches trust the most at this juncture of the offseason.

I’m just ready for some Ohio State football, even if there will likely be no tackling once again this year in the Spring Game.
