Normally, I like to stay out of this sort of thing. ESPN’s Adam Schefter is one of the best journalists out there in terms of getting a scoop. He has the sources and info to be one of the most followed sportspeople on Twitter. But what he did to Dwayne Haskins is not cool.

When Schefter broke the news that Dwayne Haskins had been killed, I retweeted his original tweet and filled it with my own thoughts on the tragic situation. Then he deleted the tweet and I realized that I had completely glossed over some of the things he said in that tweet.

Schefter has been getting dragged on social media for the last 24 hours over that tweet. Below is the original tweet, as well as former Ohio State football player Cardale Jones’ thoughts on it.

As you can see, the choice of words that Schefter used is extremely poor. No one should care that Dwayne struggled early in his NFL career. That’s not how he should be remembered. He should be remembered as a good human being.

Others on social media far and wide condemned the Michigan alum’s tweet.

As you can see, there are people far and wide who were not happy with Schefter. He still has yet to give any sort of apology for his choice of words when reporting the death of Haskins. I wouldn’t expect one either. Schefter just signed an extension with ESPN, why would he care?

Dwayne Haskins’ death is tragic. It’s also tragic that the man who broke the news to the world had to say what he said.
