Top three Dwayne Haskins moments at Ohio State
By Ryan Stano
The second-best moment Haskins had for the Buckeyes is a moment that is largely forgotten by Buckeye fans. That’s because it happened in a Big Ten Championship game that seemed meaningless. The loss to Purdue earlier in the year is what kept them out of the CFP.
That loss was certainly not Dwayne Haskins’ fault. Haskins broke the record for passing yards in a single game against Purdue with 470 in that loss. He was great and was the only reason why the Buckeyes didn’t lose by even more to the Boilermakers.
Haskins then broke that record again later that season, this time in a win. It happened in the Big Ten Championship against Northwestern. In that game, Haskins went 34-41 for a massive 499 yards. He added 5 touchdowns and just one interception.
That record-breaking performance helped the Buckeyes once again win the Big Ten Championship after beating the Wildcats 45-24. Haskins accounted for every touchdown that the Buckeyes scored except for one, which was a touchdown run by J.K. Dobbins.
This moment gets lost in history because it was a season that was marred by controversy and a horrible loss to Purdue. This moment still shouldn’t be forgotten when talking about the great moments that Haskins had with the Ohio State football program.
The greatest moment that Haskins had with the Buckeyes is my favorite game from the 2018 season and one of my favorite games of the last decade.
