Former Buckeye Dwayne Haskins tragically killed in South Florida

The Ohio State football community is hurting today. This is an article I never thought I’d have to write, nor one I ever wanted to write. That’s because Dwayne Haskins, former quarterback and Ohio State record holder, has tragically been killed. He was just 24 years old.
According to his agent, Haskins was killed when he was struck by a car. ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted out the terrible news this morning.
Dwayne Haskins, a standout at Ohio State before becoming Washington’s first-round pick and playing in Pittsburgh, died this morning when he got hit by a car in South Florida, per his agent Cedric Saunders. Haskins would have turned 25 years old on May 3.

Haskins was in South Florida training with other quarterbacks and wide receivers from the Steelers when this happened. Apparently, new QB Mitchell Tribusky had invited everyone down to Florida to get some work in. That’s why Haskins was in South Florida.
Dwayne Haskins is still the school record-holder for most passing yards in a single season. He had 4,831 yards to go along with 50 touchdowns in the 2018 season, which was the only year he was a starter for the Ohio State football team. He was a Heisman Finalist that year as well.
Haskins was then a first-round pick by the Washington Commanders. He was eventually released after a rocky first couple of seasons in the NFL and was signed by Pittsburgh last year. This was going to be a year where Haskins was going to be able to have an opportunity to get his career back on track.
