The Ohio State basketball team is already losing some of its best players from this past season. Two are moving on to the NBA, one is out of eligibility, and others are yet to decide. One player has now fully decided to come back though, and it’s great news for the Buckeyes.

Justice Sueing had previously announced that he was returning for college basketball next season but declined to say for whom he was going to play. Now, that decision has been fully made. Sueing will return to the Ohio State basketball program next season.

Even though Sueing only played two games this past season before missing the rest of the season with an injury, he is a key player for this Ohio State squad. He will be looked at as the leader of the team now that E.J. Liddell and Kyle Young are gone. Liddell will be the player who’s been with the Bucks the longest.

His leadership is big, but also his defensive abilities are huge too. He is able to guard 1-4 on the floor and he is an excellent switcher. He will become more of a focal point of the offense as well, assuming that he is indeed fully healthy heading into next year.

That offensive game will need some work after two terrible games last season, but maybe that can be chalked up to injury. In his first season with the Buckeyes in 2020, he averaged 10.7 points per game on 49% shooting and 36% shooting from behind the arc.

Those are good numbers. They should increase next season with more of the offense run through him, which it should. His three-point shooting is going to be something I’m watching very closely. He’s always been good at taking it to the rack, but his jumper is going to be needed too.

This is good news for Ohio State basketball fans all over. Sueing will be looking for a great final season in college basketball.
