Ohio State Football: Chemistry building quickly
By Ryan Stano
One of the most important things in football is the chemistry between a quarterback and his pass-catchers. The Ohio State football team knows how important this is and they’ve done a really good job building that relationship with various players over the years.
That’s going to be important again this year and the chemistry has already been building quickly. We saw that C.J. Stroud had some good chemistry with the receivers at the Rose Bowl. Those are the same group of guys that will be catching balls from him this Fall.
That chemistry that started to build in that game will only increase this Spring and Summer. Stroud will definitely work with each of those guys to understand how to put them in the best possible scenarios to succeed in every situation that the offense could be in.
Because that chemistry is already so strong, this could set the stage for some record-breaking play from his offense this year. Stroud is already one of the best quarterbacks in the country, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba is one of the best receivers in the country too.
That combination will be absolutely lethal this year. That combination will also open up the field for the other receivers to get open and get used. There won’t be any issues in terms of spreading the ball around to the receivers in this offense this season, not that there usually is in a Ryan Day offense.
The one position that Stroud still needs to build chemistry with is the tight end. He needs to get some work in with Cade Stover and Gee Scott Jr. That way, they can be utilized in the red zone. That’s when they will be a threat most of the time in this offense.
I can’t wait to watch the chemistry continue to build as the year goes on.
