There are more than a few former Ohio State football players who have signed big contracts in the NFL in recent years. Michael Thomas, Ezekiel Elliott, and Joey Bosa are just a few that come to mind. We can add another former Buckeye to the list very shortly.

Terry McLaurin is the next in line to get paid a lot of money by his NFL team. The Washington Commander receiver was a third-round pick back in the 2019 Draft and has been their best receiver since then. More than that, he’s been their best offensive player.

McLaurin has never caught less than 93 passes in a season. He has 3,090 yards receiving in his three years in Washington as well and adds 16 touchdowns. This is all despite the quarterback uncertainty that the Commanders have had over the last three seasons.

In those three seasons, McLaurin has caught passes from Dwayne Haskins, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Case Keenum, Colt McCoy, Alex Smith, Kyle Allen, and Taylor Heinecke. That’s all in just three seasons! And yet, McLaurin continues to put up huge numbers no matter who is throwing him the ball.

McLaurin is up for a contract extension. Now that Stefon Diggs and Chrisitan Kirk just got paid a lot of money, McLaurin is the next receiver who is in line for a ton of dough. His numbers show that he deserves it too. He’s still the best offensive player on their roster.

I’d expect McLaurin to continue to put up elite numbers for years to come. He was pretty good while he was with the Ohio State football program, but I don’t think anyone expected him to jump up a level like this. I watched him in high school too and didn’t see this coming.

I’m sure McLaurin will be filling up his bank account soon.
