Ohio State Football: Recruiting will be harder than ever

The Ohio State football program has been the premier program in the Midwest for the better part of the last 20 years or so. They have been the most successful program in that time period in the Midwest and one of the most successful in all of college football.
A big reason for that is the recruiting that Ohio State has been able to do. They have recruited some of the best players in program history in some of the past few years. Now recruiting is going to become much harder because of the rise of some of the other programs in this region.
Notre Dame is perhaps the biggest issue that the Buckeyes might have to deal with. With Marcus Freeman leading that program, he has injected some youth and excitement that recruits seem to like. Notre Dame right now has the number one recruiting class in 2023.
As much as I hate to say it, TTUN might create some problems for Ohio State. Their success last season, finally winning the Big Ten and making the College Football Playoff, might help them bring in some more recruits. Jim Harbaugh might actually be doing some of his best coaching.
Ryan Day and his staff have to make sure that they continue recruiting at an elite level. They have been doing that since Day has been with the Buckeyes, but now that has become much harder with the trajectory that both of these programs are on. I didn’t even mention Cincinnati either.

Recruiting is the lifeblood of any program. As long as the Ohio State football program keeps recruiting at a high level, they can continue to compete at the highest level. Day lost two games last season and he can’t afford to do that again. Recruiting is something that can help him avoid that.
