The Ohio State football program has been one of the most consistent programs in all of college football. The Buckeyes have been one of the few teams that have been consistent national title contenders. That should once again be the case this season.

Ohio State finished last season with a compelling victory over Utah in the Rose Bowl. It’s the type of victory that could help them in the preseason polls because we got a glimpse of what the offense could look like without Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson on the field.

All the Buckeyes did was score 48 points and have over 600 yards passing in that game without their two first-round receivers. Ohio State still has some questions on the defensive side of the ball, but that last game should leave a positive impression on voters.

If you look at what the possible polls could look like preseason, Georgia will likely start out the year as number one. That makes sense considering they are the defending national champions. Alabama will likely start at two. After that, things get a little interesting.

Ohio State could end up being ranked in that third spot. Their main competition for that spot is TTUN. While Ohio State ended the year on a positive note, TTUN was last seen getting beaten down by Georgia in the College Football Playoff.

Even though TTUN beat Ohio State last season, those final impressions matter to voters when it comes to the preseason polls. The Buckeyes also made changes on defense to fix the issues that were the main reason why they ended up falling to TTUN in late November.

Ultimately, as long as the Ohio State football team wins all of their games, it doesn’t really matter where they will be ranked in the preseason polls. They will be in the CFP competing for a chance to win a national title.
