The Ohio State football team has very high hopes for Zach Harrison when he came to Columbus. He was a local kid out of Olentangy Liberty High School and was a five-star prospect. He was supposed to be the next great defensive end at Ohio State, following in the steps of the Bosa brothers and Chase Young.

Instead, Buckeye fans have been left wanting more. In three seasons with the Buckeyes, Harrison has only accumulated 7.5 sacks. He also has just one forced fumble in his career. Simply put, Harrison’s tenure with the Ohio State football program so far has been disappointing.

Harrison has one last shot to right the ship. He decided to come back for his senior year, which was a smart move. He will be starting once again and has a shot to show everyone why he was that five-star talent out of high school. This is his chance to put up some stats.

If he does, the Buckeyes become much more of a dangerous team. The Buckeyes struggled to get consistent pressure on the quarterback last year. Harrison doing that would help the rest of the defense behind him. Even in a new system, Harrison has a chance to flourish.

Of course, this could all be wishful thinking. He’s already given us three years of tape to look at. Why would this season be any different? Is being in a new system really going to help him that much? Harrison also has Jack Sawyer and J.T. Tuimoloau looking to make an impact at DE, fighting him for snaps.

This is Harrison’s last chance to make a statement. Will he be a good player that finally plays to some of his potential? Or will he end his career being a disappointing recruit that never made the impact that was promised? Only time will tell.
