Ohio State Basketball: E.J. Liddell selected as All-American
By Ryan Stano
E.J. Liddell has been the best player for the Ohio State basketball team all year long. Now he can call himself one of the best players in America.
E.J. Liddell carried the Ohio State basketball team to where they are now. Without him and Malaki Branham, this team doesn’t even make the NCAA Tournament. Liddell had a phenomenal year, averaging 19.6 points per game, 7.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.6 blocks.
Liddell was honored today by being named a Third-Team All-American. He joins four other Big Ten players to make an All-American team. This was an especially strong year for the Big Ten in terms of top players. Now, Liddell will turn his attention to the NCAA Tournament.
Depending on how well he plays in the NCAA Tournament, Liddell could elevate his draft status. Right now, he’s a borderline lottery pick. If he plays well enough to drag this bad Ohio State basketball team to the Sweet 16 or further, he could end up being a top-ten pick.
No matter where he lands in the Draft, Liddell has had a phenomenal college career. Buckeye fans already love him for what he’s done. They hope he can give them one more run of good basketball before he leaves for the NBA. That starts with a good game Friday against Loyola Chicago.
Liddell is going to have to be the focal point of the offense in that game. He’s going to have to be spectacular for them to win that game and advance into the second round of the Tournament. I certainly wouldn’t put it past him after all the other things he’s done this season.
