We learned what seed the Ohio State basketball team is and who they will face in the NCAA Tournament and it’s not a good matchup.

The Ohio State basketball team fell in four of the final five games they played this season. Because of that, their NCAA Tournament seed took a big hit. They fell all the way down to a 7-seed. Had they won just two of those games, they may have been a 5-seed.

Instead, they will be a 7-seed facing a 10-seed in Pittsburgh. While the location is good for the Buckeyes, the opponent is not a team they wanted to see. They will take on Loyola Chicago as the 10-seed. That’s a very tough team to play in the first round.

This Ramblers team made the Final Four back in 2018, so they have some experience with success in March. While most of those players from that team are gone, this is a program that expects success in the NCAA Tournament. Ohio State got a bad draw here.

On the plus side, the Buckeyes do have a good location in Pittsburgh. Plenty of Buckeye fans should be able to make the journey over there and given a home-court advantage. They’re going to need it going against this Ramblers team that plenty of people will be picking to win this game.

Another good thing for Ohio State is that this game is being played on Friday. That gives them even more rest, which is something this team sorely needs. Maybe that extra day will be enough to get Zed Key and Kyle Young healthy enough to actually play in this game.
