Ohio State Football: TreVeyon Henderson says he played through a concussion
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football player revealed he played through the injury in an unnamed game last season as a freshman.
Brain injuries are something that all Ohio State football players are aware of. In fact, every football player is now aware of the dangers of brain injuries and what concussions can do long-term. Apparently, TreVeyon Henderson doesn’t really care about those possible effects.
Today at practice, he revealed that he played through a concussion last season.
"I played through a concussion, and during the game I still had the side effects of it. As long as I can run, I’m gonna stay out there."
Henderson was asked what game it was but declined to talk about it further. He just mentioned that it was a game he was coming out a lot in. That makes me think that it could have been the Maryland game after he really only saw first-half snaps. You can see the full answer in the clip below.
No matter what game it was, I think that anyone playing through a concussion is not the smartest thing in the world. You only get one brain in your life and I wouldn’t mess around with that. Henderson is a young guy and wanted to be tough. I understand his mentality.
It’s not like the Buckeyes don’t have other running backs though. If Henderson had to go out, they have other guys who could step in and still perform at a high level. I hope he doesn’t try to do something like that again, even though he said he passed all of the doctor’s tests in the game.
All that matters now is that Henderson is fully healthy and looking to have a big season in 2022. Hopefully, this one is concussion-free.
