Ohio State Football: Three 2023 prospects to watch
By Ryan Stano
Of the three prospects I’ve mentioned, Carnell Tate is the one you’ve probably heard the most about. He’s a five-star receiver from the state of Florida and is listed as the third-best receiver in the country. He would be another great addition to an already stacked receiver room.
Tate is down to two schools; Ohio State and Notre Dame. Coincidentally, those two teams play in the opener at the Shoe on September third. There’s a very good chance that Tate is there for that game to watch these two programs firsthand.
Tate stands at 6’2 and 185 pounds. He could stand to put on a little more weight and will probably do so once he gets to the next level. Based on what I’ve seen on film, this guy has excellent hands. He makes tough catches look easy and the easy ones even easier. He’s very smooth.
Back in October and November, Tate took unofficial visits to Columbus. He also visited Notre Dame the day after his second visit to Ohio State. There still needs to be some heavy recruiting from both sides before Tate decides where he’s going to attend for the next few years.
It’s hard to argue with the track record Hartline has. He’s putting two receivers in the first round of this draft and has plenty of other NFL success stories who are in the league right now. I would hope that Ohio State would be the leader between these two schools.
All three of these guys would be excellent players to add to the Ohio State football program for the 2023 class. Tate might be the guy who decides the soonest, but I wouldn’t expect any of them to make a decision anytime soon.
