It’s time the Ohio State Football team changed the uniforms
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football program has one of the most iconic uniforms in the game. The silver helmets, scarlet jerseys, and gray pants are as recognizable as any uniform in college football. They are related with Ohio State across the country and across the world.
So why would I say that the program needs to change the uniforms? Well, hear me out. Currently, both home and away jerseys have white stripes on the sleeves. They used to have gray stripes. That’s the biggest change that I’m looking for; bring the gray sleeves back!
The Buckeyes are called the Scarlet and Gray for a reason. They need to not just have the gray pants, they need some gray in the jersey too. I’m not even sure why they took them out of the sleeves to begin with. Maybe they thought white looked more slimming, I don’t know.
I’m a traditionalist when it comes to uniforms. I’m not even a fan of some of the alternates the Buckeyes have had, save for the all-gray ones. Those ones were sick. The all-scarlet ones weren’t so bad, but I hated the all-black ones. I think they should just stick to their typical home and away for the majority of the games.
In order for the Ohio State football team to once again have the perfect uniforms, they need to have the gray sleeves in them. I mean, just take a look at the photo at the top of the page. Don’t those look nice? Those scream “Scarlet and Gray” more than the current uniforms.
I’m not sure I’ll ever get my way on this, but I know I’m not the only one calling for it. Several Buckeye fans feel this way too. Maybe one day we’ll finally get them back.
