The Ohio State basketball team plays the worst team in the Big Ten Conference tonight when Nebraska comes to town. The Cornhuskers are just 8-21, which might be a good thing for the Buckeyes after they lost to another terrible Big Ten team in Maryland on Sunday.

This is a game where the Buckeyes have to show signs of life. What I mean by that is that they don’t just have to win the game, they have to look like a really good team. They have to actually knock down some threes and rebound the ball better on the defensive end.

Better yet, they could just actually drive to the hoop instead of settling for so many threes. If you’re a team that doesn’t shoot very well from deep, and the Buckeyes certainly qualify, then you should try to find other ways of scoring the basketball. That needs to happen tonight.

The last time these two teams played, Malaki Branham went off for 35 points in Lincoln. Both he and E.J. Liddell were terrible on Sunday. It’s clear that at least one of them needs to be playing well at all times because they don’t have anyone else that can step up.

It’s unclear what the status is of Zed Key for this game after he sprained his ankle late in that Maryland game. Maybe his absence will force the ball to move a little bit more. It could also open up the floor to have Kyle Young out there more often. Plus, Young is a better defender.

Another loss to a bad team would be disastrous for this team now that it’s March. It would signal that this Ohio State basketball team is destined for another first-round flameout. I’m hoping the Buckeyes come out angry and ready to go from the moment the ball is tipped.
