Ohio State Football: Kevin Warren once again shows incompetence
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team would benefit from a commissioner of the Big Ten Conference that is actually good. Jim Delaney had some issues, but he by and large did things that were good for the entire conference. Kevin Warren seems to want to do the exact opposite of that.
After the debacle that was the 2020 season, Warren continues to show his incompetence. He was one of the commissioners that still opposes College Football Playoff expansion. While he isn’t the only one, he is the only conference commissioner that has a history of doing stupid things to such a high degree.
Warren is once again against the side of progress. Playoff expansion is inevitable, and yet he is dragging his feet against it. He is just giving more Big Ten fans another reason to hate him. I’m not really sure why he thinks he is protecting the current format of the CFP or something.
Expansion would help every team in the Big Ten, especially the ones at the top. The top brands in the conference, like the Ohio State football program, TTUN, and Penn State, would all be helped by a 12-team playoff. All of these programs would have a better chance to make it.
Instead, Warren and some of the other conference commissioners will be scrambling to do something right before the current deal ends in 2026. The Buckeyes have had a lot of success in the current Playoff format, but a new format would make things a lot easier.
This is just one more thing for fans to hold onto in terms of evidence of why Kevin Warren is unfit to be the Big Ten Commissioner. Unfortunately, there’s nothing they can do to get him removed.
