The Ohio State football program just finished up signing their 2022 recruiting class. The Buckeyes are emphasizing certain position groups within recruiting classes, one of them being the offensive line. They just got better on the offensive line today.

That’s because four-star offensive lineman Luke Montgomery just committed to the Ohio State football program. He is the fourth-best tackle in the country and the best tackle in the state of Ohio. Right now, he’s listed as the 49th-best prospect in the country.

Montgomery stands at 6’5 and 270 pounds and is out of Findlay. He is someone that the Buckeyes had targeted early and wanted to land. He chose the Buckeyes over TTUN, Clemson, Notre Dame, and Alabama. Those are some of the best programs in the country.

Based on some of the film I’ve seen, Montgomery can be a very good player in college. He’s aggressive, which is something the Buckeyes need out of an offensive lineman after what happened last year. He’s only been playing on the offensive line for a couple of years and has a lot of potential to improve.

I think this is a great get for Justin Frye. Frye is going to get his kind of guys into the program to change the culture along that offensive line. The Buckeyes are trying to instill more toughness along the offensive line and Montgomery is an excellent prospect to do that.

Montgomery becomes the fifth recruit in the class of 2023 so far. His commitment raises Ohio State’s class to 7th in the country. That rating will surely go up once the coaches start heavily recruiting this class with more effect this summer.

I very much like Montgomery and I very much like that the Buckeyes got the best prospect at that position in the state. Ryan Day wanted to build a fence around the state, and getting prospects like this certainly helps that concept.

The Buckeyes will certainly be getting more elite prospects in this class soon.
