Chase Young is perhaps the most dominant defensive player to ever lace it up for the Buckeyes. Would Ohio State retire his number?

Marshon Lattimore was another corner in a long line of great corners that have played for the Buckeyes. Lattimore was a four-star recruit in the class of 2014 out of Cleveland. He was a local kid that wanted to stay closer to home and play for the best university in the state.

Lattimore did just that under Kerry Coombs and Urban Meyer. Lattimore only ended up playing two seasons with Ohio State because he was so good. His career stats were impressive as a junior too. In that season, he had 41 tackles, a tackle for loss, and 4 interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown.

Ohio State was downright scary to throw against for a few years. Lattimore was one reason for that. He made it very difficult for teams to throw on him because of his physical style of play. He excelled at the press coverage man-to-man that Ohio State ran at that time.

Lattimore has continued that sort of play in the NFL, now playing for the Saints. He was the 11th overall pick by New Orleans in the 2017 NFL Draft. Before that, he was a First-team All-Big Ten selection in the 2016 season as a junior.

Ohio State was happy to have Lattimore there. I certainly enjoyed watching him play as well, and still do now that he’s at the next level. The next player on this list is the first skill-position on its list from the Urban era.
