Denzel Ward was a really good corner for the Ohio State football team. He was a recruit in the 2015 recruiting class as a four-star cornerback. When he first started seeing playing time, he was used as a slot corner. He didn’t start outside until his final season.

While Ward’s numbers weren’t spectacular while he was a Buckeye, his impact was undeniable. Ward played three seasons with the Buckeyes from 2015-17. He finished his career with 67 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, and two interceptions.

Ward was a lockdown corner his senior season. Teams were more afraid to throw his way than in previous years. Even so, he was able to get his two career picks in that senior season. HIs season allowed him to be a very high first-round pick in the Draft the following Spring.

He was drafted with the fourth overall pick by the Cleveland Browns. He deserved that high pick after how well he locked down receivers at both the slot corner position and on the outside. Ward was able to show that he was as versatile as cornerbacks come.

I would argue that Ward outplayed his recruiting ranking. Usually, his type of success is reserved for five-star talents. Ward was a fan-favorite while he was in Columbus as well, so that made his time with Ohio State even better.

The next player on this list is another offensive lineman who showed off some great versatility.
