Ohio State Football community should try to help Damon Arnette
By Ryan Stano
Before I continue, I need to give you some honesty. I never liked Damon Arnette while he was with the Ohio State football program. He seemed cocky and always seemed to celebrate like he made a big play when the receiver dropped a wide-open pass or something like that. I thought him being a first-round pick was a mistake.
With all of that being said, the man clearly needs some love and support right now, With the report that he has been arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, he needs that support now than ever. He was released by the Chiefs from this futures contract after the news was reported.
This is where members of the Ohio State football community can step up. Former teammates can reach out to him and help him get his life in order. Former coaches can reach out and help as well. Arnette needs to do something to help himself before things get worse for him.
This is no longer about how he played on the field or acted during a play. This is real-life stuff. Football comes second n a moment like this. While I’m not entirely sure what former Buckeyes can do to help, I believe they should at least try to reach out and help him.
As far as football goes, it looks like it might be over for Arnette. Unless he makes a dramatic turn in his life and he can convince another team that the turn is for real, he may have lost his chance. Like I mentioned though, football is not important in a time like this.
Former Buckeyes are part of a fraternity. I’m hoping that fraternity can help Arnette before it gets too late and something worse happens because Arnett is not on a good path.
