The Ohio State football program had a 2020 recruiting class that was very highly rated. In fact, it was the fifth-best recruiting class in the country. It was the first full recruiting class that Ryan Day was able to bring in. Having a class ranked 5th is pretty good after Urban Meyer left while still recruiting this class.

This class is going to be juniors in 2022. That means that the class has enough experience to contribute to the team but still has room to get better. Some of these guys are redshirt sophomores too, which means they have even more time to contribute.

I’m not going to write something obvious about this class though. C.J. Stroud was in this class, and we all know he is critical to the team’s success next season. He’s the starting quarterback, that’s a given. He’s going to be one of the best players in the country.

The guys on this list are players that aren’t stars but are still very critical to how good the team is going to be. Overall, this class has been about average in terms of productivity for the team. Stroud is obviously on the high end of that productivity, as is Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

None of the players on this list are as good as either one of these players. They don’t have to be though. They just have to give some level of production that’s higher than what they’ve given so far in their previous two or three years with the program.

The first player on this list now has no excuses not to be a really good player.
