Chris Holtmann and the Ohio State basketball team defeated Minnesota 75-64 to earn himself his 100th career win as the Buckeyes head coach. Since he began as the Buckeyes’ leader at the start of the 2017-2018 season, Holtmann has become the consistent and integral heartbeat of this Buckeyes basketball program. He is 100-48 overall record over 5 years with a .675 winning percentage.

Holtmann is the seventh Buckeye head coach to earn 100 career wins with the Buckeyes:

Head Coach:
Thad Matta 337-123
Fred Taylor 297-158
Harold Olsen 255-192
Eldon Miller 174-120
Jim O’Brien 133-88
Randy Ayers 124-108

Could Coach Holtmann catch Thad Matta in career wins? With the combination of consistent play in the Big Ten, competitive runs in March, and top recruiting classes, there would be no doubt that Holtmann could make a run to become the Buckeyes career wins leader.

The future is bright for this Buckeyes hoops program. Holtmann’s 2022 recruiting class is ranked #1 in the Big-Ten and 5th in the nation.

The #16th ranked Buckeyes are headed into a marquee matchup at #6 Purdue on Sunday. Big Ten play is officially underway. It will be an exciting finish to the season to see who comes out on top in the Big Ten.

If the Buckeyes can win the game, it would vault them up in the polls and give them new expectations of just how good they could be once March rolls around. Holtmann would love nothing more than to notch his 101st win Sunday afternoon.

I’m sure Holtmann would love to win another 100 games with the Ohio State basketball team. He is beloved by the fanbase and the players alike. He still needs to prove he can have some success in postseason play, but hopefully that will come this year.

Next. Fewer Big Ten games better for conference. dark

Holtmann won’t take any joy in this milestone though. He’s already thinking about the next game and how to beat Purdue.
