It was an unbelievable weekend of football. The NFL playoffs had great games in every single one of their matchups. A common denominator was plenty of former Ohio State football players having some big games and coming up big in the brightest moments.

In the Bengals/Titans game, several former Buckeyes came up big. Joe Burrow threw for 348 yards on 28/37 passing while being sacked an insane 9 times. He helped keep the Bengals in the game while several former Buckeyes played well on defense.

Sam Hubbard had 3 tackles and 2 tackles for loss. Vonn Bell was their second-leading tackler with 6, including a sack. But the play of the game was made by Eli Apple, who deflected the ball up in the air which led to a pick for the Bengals with just 20 seconds left. That helped them set up the field goal they needed to win.

In the 49ers/Packers game, Nick Bosa was borderline unstoppable at times. He had 3 tackles and 2 sacks in the game. He was creating all kinds of havoc in the backfield, pushing the pocket back even when he wasn’t getting to the quarterback for a sack.

It’s no surprise that both the Bengals and the 49ers won after how well these former Ohio State football players played. They were all taken by these teams because they knew how good of a player they are. Now, they get a chance to go to the Super Bowl if they play well again.

Ryan Day and his staff certainly took note of these performances and will continue to use them on recruiting trips. It’s always good to see alumni performing their best on the biggest stage available. That’s part of the reason they went to Ohio State. It helps prepare them for these big moments.
