Ohio State Football: Buckeyes land another big DL recruit
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football program could end up having a lot of changes coming to the staff by the time the next couple of weeks are over. There are all kinds of rumors flying around right now. It’s good to see that the rumors haven’t slowed down recruiting efforts.
The Buckeyes were able to land another big defensive line recruit today. Ohio State already has a 2022 class of some good defensive linemen, but they just added another good one. They were able to add four-star defensive lineman Hero Kanu.
Kanu hails from the state of California and is rated as the 18th best defensive lineman in the country. Kanu stands at 6’5 and 293 pounds. He’s a big body that can play defensive tackle or defensive end, but will likely be used more on the inside.
Kanu has some great strength and has some good moves that help him get into the backfield. He’s only played two years of football so far in his life though, so he has plenty of potential that is still untapped. His size and strength make him a good candidate to be an impact player once he gets some college coaching.
Now Ohio State has four defensive line recruits for the 2022 class. That’s very interesting based on some of the rumors that have been floating around Larry Johnson’s remaining tenure with the Buckeyes. It seems that these recruits are committed to the program no matter what.
We’ll see how Kanu is able to acclimate himself to college-level competition. Playing so little football makes him very raw. That raw potential is what excites the Buckeyes though. They think he can be a really good player in a couple of years.
We’re only a few months away from the Spring Game and getting our first look at the 2022 team!
